Desalination: Securing fresh water for the future
Desalination is the process of removing salt and impurities from seawater to produce fresh, potable water. This is especially important for areas with limited drinking water, offering a reliable way to get fresh water when natural sources run low. The two main methods are reverse osmosis, which uses special filters to remove salt from seawater, and thermal distillation, which heats water to separate the salt from the fresh water.
From the intake system, which collects seawater, to pretreatment, which removes debris, to the desalination unit, where salt is filtered out, followed by storage and distribution, desalination facilities play a vital role in providing safe, usable water.
